About Herd Health & Nutrition
Hey there! I'm Alex Herd, a Georgia native with some roots back in Eastern Pennsylvania. I'm a wife and mom to two tiny humans, one canine and seven chickens. Apart from my precious family, I live for freshly brewed coffee, bouldering and wearing my overalls (much to my husband's chagrin). I am also the founder and proud owner of Herd Health and Nutrition, LLC.
As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), I believe in foods that bring proper nutrition to your body as well as foods that bring joy to your soul. Healthy eating is more than just a series of 30 day quick fixes throughout the year. It is a balance of not only nutritious foods but a healthy mind as well. If you're ready to begin a sustainable, lifestyle change that is good for the whole family, then come with me! Let's throw away the diet books, grab a bite of chocolate and take a walk with me - eating & being joyful. |
Alex holds a Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from Georgia Southern University. After completing her dietetic internship at Georgia Southern and passing her national examination, therefore becoming a licensed Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), she obtained her Masters of Science degree from The Sage Colleges in Applied Nutrition - a program to compliment her strong medical nutrition therapy education background that is developing and implementing nutrition based programs. She is also a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). Her previous work experience includes public health nutrition (WIC), clinical hospital settings as well as an outpatient weight loss clinic. She has a strong medical nutrition therapy background that includes, but is not limited to, general nutrition, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and high cholesterol, prediabetes and diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, food allergens, gestational diabetes, and pediatric nutrition.
In regards to her nutrition philosophy, Alex practices using current evidenced-based nutrition research. She uses intuitive eating and Health at Every Size (HAES) in her approach to nutritional health.
